Join us for a magical musical evening as percussive innovator Fritz Hauser returns to Sydney to collaborate once again with Synergy Percussion. Twenty-five years ago, Hauser made his first journey to Australia to perform with Synergy Percussion at the Sydney Opera House. Now, they reunite to present TIMESTRETCH—an extraordinary performance that fuses their collective talents and creative energy.
TIMESTRETCH embodies Fritz’s musical philosophy, featuring unexpected rhythmic events, sonic adventures, dynamic contrasts, and elements of fun and surprise.
Together, Synergy Percussion, Fritz Hauser, and a young artist from the Sydney Conservatorium will channel their collective artistic experience and energy to deliver a musical journey that will resonate with you long after the final note.

Fritz Hauser
*1953 in Basel/Switzerland develops solo programmes for percussion and drums, which he performs worldwide. Compositions for percussion ensembles and soloists, chamber orchestra, choir. Sound installations (e.g. Therme Vals, Architekturmuseum Basel, Castel Burio Italy, Kunsthaus Zug, Fondation van Gogh in Arles, University of Zurich), radio plays, music for films and readings. Interdisciplinary works with the lighting designer Brigitte Dubach, the director Barbara Frey, the architect Boa Baumann and the choreographer Kinsun Chan. In the field of percussion music he plays and works with percussion soloists and ensembles all over the world. Numerous CDs as soloist and with various ensembles.
Fritz Hauser is the 2012 Culture Prize winner of the City of Basel and Culture Prize winner Music Basel-Landschaft 1996. In summer 2018, Hauser was Composer-in-residence at the Lucerne Festival 2018. For the next Ruhrtriennale under the direction of Barbara Frey, Fritz Hauser will curate a percussion series spanning over 3 years (2021-2023).

For more than 40 years, Fritz Hauser has been touring the world. Performing in more than 45 countries, performing solo as well as creating cross-media works with various artists from different fields (theatre, dance, film, visual arts, literature). Workshops and masterclasses at music universities, as well as teaching individually.
